Wear something you feel great in.  If you feel great, then you'll look great! We recommend choosing 2-4 colors and having everyone wear something within that palette.  That way, you coordinate without being to matchy matchy.  Natural colors and pastels tend to look really nice against the ocean/beach backdrop.  Collars and buttons look better than plane t-shirts.  Feel free to bring along some flower leis or wear flowers in the hair.  They look great in photos! Generally, you want to avoid dark colors like black or brown, busy bold patterns and logos.  And make sure you don't mind getting a little water and sand on your outfit.        

What should we wear?

It takes about 10-14 days for us to edit your photos and send you the link to your online gallery.  You will be able to download your images in high resolution.  Your images will not be watermarked, so you can take them to the lab of your choice for printing.  Your gallery offers professional print ordering options from the WHCC lab.  We give you a coupon code for 20% off your entire order.  We are happy to assist you in ordering prints and enlargements from your gallery. 

How long does it take to get my photos?

First of all, you can't go wrong here.  It's all beautiful!  We can come to your hotel/resort and do pictures there or meet you at a nearby beach.  Check out our locations page for the best beaches near you.  Please note that professional photography is not allowed on Kaanapali Beach or Big Beach.  Also, we buy a permit for every photoshoot that allows us to shoot at your chosen location.  The permit is included in your package.  

What is the best location for Maui Portraits?

We offer both morning and sunset sessions.  Sunset is our most popular time to shoot and usually gets booked first.  We call this the golden hour.  The tones are warm and the colors and intensity vary greatly depending on the clouds.  Mornings tend to be more popular for families with young children, who haven't adjusted to the time change.  They have more energy and are more likely to cooperate in the mornings.  Mornings offer cooler tones with bright blue skies and water.  Morning sessions begin between 6:30am-8:30am depending on the time of year and location. 

What time of day do you shoot?

Basic editing for color, cropping, straightening and certain effects/enhancements are included.  Advanced photoshop editing is available for an additional charge, usually $10-$25/image.  This includes things like making you thinner, removing scars/sunburns and face or head swaps.  You'll make us a list of edit requests and we will quote you a price based on how long it will take to complete.  

Can you photoshop me to make me look thinner, younger, etc?

We encourage you to embrace the outdoor elements that come with a Maui photoshoot. Maui is always windy, so there's no such thing as perfect hair. Of course your kids are distracted by the waves and sand. No worries!!! We work with kids all the time and we understand that they are KIDS. The waves might get you wet, buy hey, you're at the beach! Besides if you were after a "perfect" portrait, you'd be shooting inside a studio. We LOVE the Maui landscapes and the wild elements they come with. We have worked in ALL the situations. We are, after all, capturing this little slice in time "you are here." That in itself, is perfect.

What about the wind, my hair, my kids aren't listening, etc?
